Restoration of Golf Course Irrigation Control System

Golf Course

Incident

A fire broke out in a building adjacent to a golf course facility, causing smoke and heat to spread into the area where the course’s irrigation control system was housed. Although the flames never reached the irrigation control room directly, the equipment inside—including the central control unit and several associated components—was heavily exposed to smoke and soot contamination.

Challenges

The primary issue involved the contamination of sensitive electronic components vital to the golf course’s irrigation system. The central control unit and several peripheral components were at risk of permanent damage if not addressed immediately. While the fire was contained to a nearby structure, the smoke infiltration posed a significant threat to the continued operation of the golf course, especially with the importance of precise irrigation to turf maintenance. A full replacement of the system would have been both costly and time-consuming.

Outcome

AREPA was contacted and mobilized within 24 hours of being notified of the incident. Upon arrival, the team conducted a comprehensive assessment and initiated a restoration plan for the affected irrigation system. AREPA successfully restored all components, eliminating the need for costly replacements. Thanks to AREPA’s efforts, the existing irrigation equipment could be fully reused. As a result, the golf club did not need to invest in a new irrigation system, leading to significant savings in both cost and recovery time. The estimated savings for the golf club totaled approximately SEK 400,000.
